Ël Cit Sìcol dë Studi PiemontésThe little Circle of Piemontese Studies was formed in 1996. Its goal is to make it possible for the association members to get in touch with the rich tradition of Piemontese language and letters not widely known beyond the immediate culture. We also welcome visiting writers and teachers from abroad who are concerned with preserving and fostering the Piemontese language. We meet for two hours on a bi-monthly basis during autumn, winter and spring. Conversation and presentations in Piemontese are encouraged. We review phonetics, grammar and vocabulary. We also try to read a Piemontese classic, either poetry or prose, or some classic translated into Piemontese. We have recently completed: Pinocchio in Piemontese and Martin Cassul's Extraordinary Adventures in Africa and will continue to read Masna by our great Nino Autelli. Meetings are held on the third floor of Fugazi Hall, 678 Green Street (aka Beach Blanket Babylon Boulevard) in Old North Beach from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Click on the link below for the winter/spring schedule. Active membership is now around 18 - 20 and we can easily accommodate a few more. 2008 Study Group Schedule |
